is it just me or does the shadowplay streaming need some better functionality? i guess the shadowplay recording function is better, but it makes absolutely huge videos. even in lowest quality 5 minutes is still a half a gig. it's kind of nuts. it's just videos that large are hard as fuck to get uploaded to youtube, it just takes fucking forever. it's much easier to stream to twitch and then send a highlight to youtube. also 3rd party software like OBS also does recording and you've got a ton of granularity over quality and file size. so i'm really not sure why shadowplay would be an actual alternative. supposedly shadowplay gives better performance over 3rd party software, taking fewer resources, but streaming at 480p is of no use to me and i can't seem to increase to even 720p. i guess shadowplay auto configures and thinks 480p is all i can push. maybe so, i was dropping frames at 720p in OBS like a bitch last night, but i've streamed plenty of times at 1080p without a problem. then late last night i was at 720p with zero dropped frames, so it might've been a traffic issue on twitch. who knows.
anyway, the great shadowplay adventure was less glorious than expected. i didn't seem to get better streaming performance at all, in fact it seemed to be less.

All real-time recording software produces non optimal hudr files due to technological limitations. Reencode the files before uploading with handbrake

i'm not familiar with some of these concepts.
okay, so i googled stuff and now i see what you're getting at. shadowplay or even OBS will make pretty big files and i can use handbrake to encode them in a more efficient format? i wonder if there's a best format to upload to youtube

Yeah, recording software keeps grabbing the screen and tacking it on to the end of the video. It doesn't have time to optimize the fuck out of it. Handbrake can do that afterwards and usually cause a significantly smaller file. The best format would be whatever youtube uses, probably mp4 though not sure what encoding. I usually go with handbrake defaults lol
