Zizek said this once. Zizek said that Gandhi was more violent, Gandhi tried to change the social order, Hitler tried to keep it.
Zizek has also said that if you want to change yourself then you have to be violent to yourself. You have to attack that which changes and ties you to the ruling ideology.
This is hard because current ideology is a dictator that demands you to enjoy, yet breaking free is not something you will enjoy.
Tldr: you have to embrace evil because rulers always made sure that being free would mean to be evil.

Hitler's scientists were working on the atomic bomb. Moments after the discovery of nuclear fission with a key conclusion made in Berlin that led to USA developing the bomb - Yet Hitler decided to invade Poland and key science dudes from the get-go were German Jews or Jews next door to Germany and enough bugged out to more better places leaving those who continued on the bomb project to conclude it could not be done in time.

I have not looked up how much time and expense plus all the troops that kept them jews captured - Just the examples of people like Einstein who left for greener pastures.
It is amazing to me to see a wall paper hanger ending up as head of a truly advanced country - but sure decisions like going into Russia in the dead of winter - The supreme form of human, according to Hitler, was the Germanic person. So in his mind he could defeat those he considered of low order and you're so right about bad strategic decisions.
Just that even with that his racial hate really did end up as his total fail in the end in my opinion.
