I've got a fine bottle of Calumet Farms Bourbon whiskey and the taste is very rich and warm. Slightly sweet with notes of caramel, corn and oak. The nose is quite pleased with the aroma, too.

not labeled "straight" bourbon, which likely means that it is very young or at least contains some very young bourbon.
This seems to be the case of a company dumping some mediocre, sourced whiskey into a pretty bottle and hoping people will shell out $50 for it...which I did. Based on flavor and the odds, this is most likely Heaven Hill, but standard Evan Williams black label is better than this at a fraction of the price.

When I looked it up and discovered its a lot of money for a bourbon with out any age statement nor any pedigree. I simply punched in "Review Calumet Farms Bourbon whiskey"
Give that a try because there are sure some fun reviews to read. HowEver I long ago learned a rule when it comes to taste testing Wines Scotch Bourbons etc
Best be done from a paper bag so one is not impressed by bottle or label - Also its common to discover a $15 dollar bottle of wine that beats a $30 bottle.
AND AND there is the rule that people do have individual preferences. Chardonnay lovers vary from those that love oak to those who wood rather have no oak and only stainless steel. American oak vs French or a mix. Really complex stuff
But usually people EXPECT Cost to be more for more aging - After all holding the product for years as it ages is going to make the product costly to produce.
All that withstanding n if you have read my word salad - Its possible for someone to carefully make a young product with more quality then one that ends up aged.
If you like Calumet Farms Bourbon then good for you - But wood place a bet you could find something you like just as much for 1/2 the price based on 5 reviews I read.
One of the best ways to do this is go into a bar that has a lot of customers and ask for 5 different kinds of Bourbon with only the bartender having a clue wot he or she is serving you and do a taste test so you can pick out wot you like and then find out what you were severed.
In large cities its easy to find Scotch or Bourbon seminars which is the best way cause after a bottle is opened after a bunch of weeks it oxides and ends up with a sharper taste -

NOW Fact is when it comes to Tequila and I do enjoy the costly brands like Patron - Sipping it from a brandy glass - no lime no salt!!
But for my Margaritas I do NOT want a costly aged Tequila but that is just me - I like the bite I get from Zapopan at Trader Joes.
I have carefully made Margaritas from Patron and Zapopan and tasted side by side. Patron when mixed is just to far in the background for my tastes. Also a famous food writer made mention that she also likes the Zapopan for Margaritas but she also said she liked it straight and for my tastes I do not want that Sharp bite directly in a glass. Wood not want to drink it that way
I need Tequila with Guts when mixed down.

Probably NOT for every day consumption except for the very rich and even that can be a fail based on something I tried based on how One attempt at making a hamburger out
of Filet Mignon meat from the best butcher shop I could find- Even with warnings when asked for it to be ground that the outcome wood be sad and sad it was.
Longer story on the y for another time.
Really super Sushi is going to be costly - Steaks at Ruth Cris steakhouse are AMAZING Because they really age the best beef and use super heat to get it char on outside and rare on innards
I cannot splain why one should try something from an expensive bottle because maybe you or others might not even enjoy a quality Scotch. Many are put off by the smoky
nature - I no people that retch at the aroma's of Scotch. Vodka drinkers usually do not want a bourbon.
Some people are just happy with simple fast food burgers -

graves one ninety proof...it is just alcohol...very efficient..
aint nothing wrong...per se...with eighty proof liquors....unless you think about it and realize over half the bottle is distilled water..
I get two and a half great buzzes off of a pint of graves...for ten dollars..
