Also, typing is most certainly a weird thing to get into although I do find it better than how other consoles make you type.

It either runs on batteries over bluetooth (the dongle), or you can plug it in and it doesn't need batteries or the dongle. Also we generally refer to such a cable as... a cable. Not a converter, it's just a different kind of plug for the same protocol.

I played Isaac yesterday with my steam controller. Just use the gamepad configuration or one of the community ones. Don't use gamepad with mouse, or mouse+keyboard.

I tried a couple of configurations for Issac and yet they do not seem to work. The analog stick just shoots no matter what and I checked the configs which looks like this isn't suppose to happen. Although my game opens up in window mode, so could this be an issue?

Where is that under exactly?
I go to the options in game to see a "Gamepad? Use Joy2Key".
Is it somewhere in the Steam settings?

That is where I went and I only saw two options and the above message. > Gamepad? Use Joy2Key
The two options were "Lefty Flip" and "Azerty".

Guess you're playing the old version of isaac which doesn't have native controller support. Try some of the community bindings, should still be fine since the game has excellent keyboard support. Or make your own.
If you still get weirdness, check if you're using steam beta.

I just checked, I am using Steam beta and I am in big picture mode.
It's just that none of the configurations I select for the control seem to be working.
One has the W,S,A,D keys assigned to the analog stick yet the analog stick in game still shoots.
Also, is there a way I could get BoI to launch in full screen?

That's weird. Sometimes you have to open the overlay, go to the controller settings and back out again for them to apply. Might be that.
