Someone posted a link that I suspect might be child porn. I want to report it but am scared to look at the video, so I'm not completely sure if it's anything illegal. What should I do?

Reporting child porn will not stop the production of CP (and may actually encourage it). It is very unlikely that it will lead to kidnapped children being found. Children are killed because Child Pornography is illegal. If it were not illegal children would not be killed.

That means OP loaded the URL and had a page view of a Page - best guess is that he saw content that was suspect or he felt it lead directly to CP content.

In essence of course I came across content that was 150% illegal - and I have told the story in full details over at TC or it might be here? Can tell it again but would first try and locate it so I need not waste tyme in repeat
What I did faster then the speed of light or close to it was look up what to do - I was NOT satisfied with results of what I was told to do by the DOJ/FBI web sites- So I contacted them directly in spite of being told not too. Gave them exactly what I found and why I was there in the first place, so that they knew I was not looking for that kind of content.
Servers shut down - Servers sold off - Website that is the legal portion closed for business and someone else bought it.

To possess footage of CP means that person has feed $$$$ to the producer one way or the other. That keeps the crime going. I minored for two years in Law at UCLA and learned that I don't nor will ever know FUCK about the law, other then to know when to use attorneys and what to expect of them.
I think it comes down to the contributing. Similar to putting bullets into the gun, or paying for a "hit" but not using the weapon for the kill or doing the crime directly. Call it Crime by Proxy. So possession must be viewed that way. MY Quick take on how the law looks at it.
In the USA the possession of prescribed medications with someone else's name- that could end up in my medication cabinet, if that cabinet is mine alone, it would be illegal for me to possess them. Even non narcotics. Of course this varies state by state except for the Narcotics. Just an example of possession of something that is against the law. CP is exactly that.

It does get tricky the USA Supreme court makes Porn illegal. What qualifies as Porn is really unknown. In 1964, Justice Potter Stewart tried to explain "hard-core" pornography, or what is obscene, by saying, "I shall not today attempt further to define the kinds of material I understand to be embraced . . . But I know it when I see it . . .
And that is what the USA is currently left with.

When I did my gig at MCA/Universal I would look in on movies being made and what appeared to be fully nude, was often a vanity shield for tiny parts of private parts. Guys were usually limp of dick because of the 25 takes or more to get that shot in the can.
