If I may nerd out for a minute... It seems like the Ferengi race is based on western stereotypes and prejudices of Jews. Klingons are a cross between warrior-bound Spartans and honor-bound Samurai. Vulcans are a critique on what happens when one loses their humanity in an effort to base their perceptions entirely around logic. Geordi La Forge is black. What's most fun is that every different attitude by every major race in Star Trek is just an exaggerated form of what's present in humanity.

I liked how Star Trek used Ferengi as comic relief. They are superficial characters and I can't imagine how one would turn them into a worthwhile show. I'd still watch it though lol.

The Ferengi are my absolute favorite characters on that series. I love Armin Shimmerman and their enterprising attitudes. My girlfriend says that I always like the worst characters on every show.
