I was 17 and had a car and told my parents I was going to take my friends to a beach for a few days. We'd been gone for over a week and my parents and friends parents saw me on the local news being stopped in a DUI road block and passing the test. They laughed and said "Oh look, there they are at some other beach and are being all responsible and shit." We got home a few days later and everything was cool, as expected I was told I needed to call my mother sometimes.
It seems like now if there isn't multiple daily contacts and constant updates teens are probably reported as missing...
