so many people use the term "millenial" wrongly, millenials (or generation y) are people who were born from the early 1980s to the mid 1990s, anyone after that is generation z, because people seem to think generation z are millenials

Really? There are a lot of early 80's kids that fit into GenX culturally. I tend to think of millenials as anyone who watched pokemon as a kid and "grew up" after 2000. Basically, if you remember MTV actually having music videos, you are part of generation X. If you don't know what the fuck long distance charges are or don't know why we say we're "dialing" a phone number, you are part of the later generations.

Wow, I was watching Van Halen and Nirvana videos on MTV in that year. When did MTV stop being music videos all the time? I remember it starting doing show-format stuff around '94... I know they showed videos later on, but it was only every once in a while. Seriously, through the 80s and early 90s it was just music videos back-to-back. You had shows like "Yo MTV Raps" or "Headbanger's Ball" where there were themes to the videos, but it was still just music videos.

I miss walking out my door and disappearing from all contact until I returned. If people weren't at their house, they were out.

I had Americans visit me in 2008 and they were shocked to see that I had not only one, but two music channels that only played music videos. I miss those days because now there is only one and they are pop based with about a two hour cycle on the latest annoying crap.

I got generation confusion.

Why couldn't we just have had numerical values representing which 'generation' we are?

"Millenials" are the kids who grew up with internet and cell phones and mtv "programming". What you have described as "millenals" are, in fact, properly identified as "90's kids".
