Spontaneously when 4chan's /co/ board decided to watch the first two episodes to mock it, but before long they all ended up enjoying the program.
So yes, the most recent popularity of My Little Pony can be contributed to /co/ much in the same way the popularity of Minecraft can be contributed to /v/.
Now both boards despise the thing they help popularize.
