Topic: How many of you are going to miss optical storage?

Nintendo might be going all digital with their next console. Microsoft and Sony have been rumored to go all digital themselves. Most pre-built PCs nowadays do not even have optical drives. Apple doesn't put optical drives in their Macs. So my question is this... are you going to miss optical storage?

Optical storage is digital. The only analog optical storage I can think of is early LaserDisc — DVD, CD, Minidisc, Blu-Ray, UMD, etc are all digital.
As for will I miss optical storage the answer is no. Flash memory is much better.

I have been waiting for optical storage to die for ages. I will not miss losing data or ruining a disc because of some stray scratch or nick. Good riddance optical storage. If you had a grave I'd go shit on it.

Music is going full circle. The days of ridiculous cash for musicians are coming to an end. Big studios and distribution monopolies are finished now that we can share culture and music without them.

i've been re using the same optical drive for probably 12 years. i just keep installing it into my next system so i'll have a way to install an OS. then i literally don't use it again until i either wipe and reinstall or i build a new PC. i haven't burned anything or needed optical for probably 5 or 6 years? maybe more. i already don't miss optical storage.
looking forward to m.2 ssd though. it's gotten pretty cheap, and it is quiiiick.

@610,239 (F)Ah, but they did. It wasn't very popular though, possibly because they required SCSI cards rather than connecting via IDE like consumer optical drives.

Those were definitely an uncommon thing to see. I've only seen them a few times in my life when I would visit server rooms and other computer offices that were serious business.
