i wonder if it has to do with the fact that they are two different genres and that pantera was pretty much a huge joke until 1991 or whatever when they dropped the glam metal gimmick
but just fyi i dont like either of them, i think anthrax is overrated and pantera has always been lame tough guy bullshit, if dimebag didnt get his head blown off im sure they would have broken up and fell into obscurity honestly, same thing with nirvana (who is also bad), john lennon, etc.
if you're in a band that is already pretty well known and a member dies that pretty much unfortunately just settles the fact that they will always be remembered. It's a bummer that slayer didn't just hang it up and call it quits after hennemen died especially considering that kerry king really isn't that good of a guitar player and an even worse songwriter. Even more embarrassing that gwar is still around after their lead singer died as well
but I guess you gotta keep the money train rolling somehow.

kinda but i think of it in the way that when they came out hair metal was starting to take off, then after the 80s were over they didn't want to fall into the same obscurity as a lot of the other hair metal bands had but metallica and slayer had always sort of had the same sound since the beginning, its kind of unfortunate cause i wish metallica would have called it quits ages ago especially considering they've never been as heavy as slayer. Slayer was able to last because that was one of the things they had going for them at the time, they were incredibly heavy but now "heavy" bands are a dime a dozen but it depends on what you consider "heavy", there are a shitload of metalcore bands people call "heavy" but to me they aren't at all. Oh well, at least we still have cannibal corpse.

lol yeah its really sad how a lot of people talk about kurt cobain and how he was "such a good guitarist" and lyric writer and singer, the guy was super shitty in pretty much everything he did and the fact he lived as some stupid "tortured artist" thing was even more pathetic, "woe is me i have a lot of money and people love me, welp time to do some heroin and shoot myself" Melvins are great though but it sucks that every time they have an interview all the people interviewing them can talk about was how buzz and kurt were best friends, and even buzz has said that they were barely just associates and that they werent friends, not only that but their music isn't even in the same universe as what nirvana did but its kinda the same way with dylan carlson too but to a bigger extent because he is the guy that actually bought the gun he used to kill himself with.

Yeah, your right. I recall reading something about that. When I first listened to it though I expected some songs worth hearing and it just stuck in my mind what a piece of shit the album was.
