I love gin and tonic, but only with higher grade gin. Last night I tried something called Sweet Tea Vodka. It was amazing.

So true, Gin and Vodka straight are not very good. It's not like a good Whiskey or Scotch that do great by themselves on the rocks.

I like the flavor of a good gin. Martinis are wonderful. I love a good gin and tonic if I'm in the mood for something sweet.
It's harder, in my opinion, to enjoy a good vodka. Vodka isn't really supposed to have much in the way of a distinct flavor or odor. It does mix with just about anything though, and it goes into some really nice drinks.

You have to be careful with gin. If you just order a martini or gin and tonic, you will get bottom shelf crap that tastes like gasoline. Bombay Sapphire is the easiest to stomach imho.

If you have a drink with a lot of strong flavors, you are generally okay with mid-grade vodka or gin. If you are drinking something like a martini or taking your vodka on the rocks, you need to use the quality stuff. Gin and vodka don't have a lot of flavor to begin with, so the poor quality stuff stands out a lot more easily.
Also, Bombay Sapphire is a very nice gin and pretty widely available. Good recommendation. :D

I only use Gin for dirty Martinis. Gin is almost exactly the same as Vodka (in theory no taste, only alcohol) To make Gin they add herbs like Juniper berries and other botanicals, for a herby, spicy flavor. I make mine "wet" a touch of Vermouth, which is white wine with even more botanicals. Add some Green olives and a splash of Olive oil. Freeze in Freezer - No ice too dilute.
Bond- James Bond was wrong. With this reply its tyme to hit my Ocean Blue here in Cardiff by the Sea for two more hours of surfing and when I return there will be such a Martini in the freezer for my inspection. & Yes upon first taste at age 13, when my mother let me try hers at a dinner show in Las Vegas, I found it HOT and said "Tastes like Gasoline" 2me

If you call your Ovaries balls and your shaft is of the Clitoral variety, then as in cyber not a problem. I do have "two" unique long term GF relationships in R/L. Several have even seen them at separate times via photos except as far as I have yet to see, no one has put up me and them in just one pic yet. It could have happened given of the 5000+ pics out there I sure as hell have not viewed that many over the many years. Lots of public peeps just shot some new ones that are shall we say, hummmmmm stay tuned for a new topic after I get some work done LATER. Should explain why the new ones are very different from past.

Good topic for me to add - In Russia open bottles on the street or in a park are not only permitted, its acceptable to invite friends for a gathering. Fresh home made pastries, and bottles of Vodka. They chase down the Vodka with a very weak fruit juice. Mostly watered down fruit juice. Very friendly people who will invite passers by. I met many Russian families that way. Nor will they allow a guest to go to the local store to buy more for the party. When you are a guest, you're not allowed to bring what we in USA call pot luck.

On occasion a wine maker needs money fast and TJ pays cash on delivery or even in advance to get a super buy. The best Bourbons money can buy & Single Malt Scotches but that's only a recent education for maybe 5 years. Heavy hearty beers. Craft USA or imported German beers.

A new shipment of Stolichnaya Elit has recently hit the US, so you can find it. If you mix it with anything you'll go to hell. It's about $65 a bottle here, and worth every penny.
