there was the cool kids, then there was the middle ground who weren't as alpha as the cool kids but everyone still liked, then there was the losers who were made fun of by the cool kids but were still friends with the middle ground

In elementary it was mega fucked up. I was one year the cool kid with a few friends who skated and rode BMX, but the next year drinking beer was cool and pushing wood around was considered childish so we turned from top-dogs to social rejects.

High school was more about character than what you do so I had a bunch of trust worthy people who I hang out with. No one really stood out on high-school level, you just hung out with likely-minded people.

kinda, but that could be anyone. ropers literally were bull riders. it was a lifestyle as much as anything. if you dressed as a roper and didn't ride then you were a poser.

oh yeah, i forgot about posers. every click had posers too. even the blacks with their wiggers, which was a smaller clique i guess.

Not particularly. I suppose there was the group of athletic/successful kids, and the kids who were a bit silly and weird. But social standing at my school wasn't as rigid as what OP is describing. At least, from what I recall.
