Yes, you probably should've. Sending a mod PM is generally the best thing to do. I also review all mod PMs, even if they have been answered by someone else. On top of that: I am 100% confident that becky would have informed me of the PM as well. Most of the mods hang out in IRC and there is usually a lot of communication about what actions are taken. All moderator actions are logged there as well, so no moderator actions happen that I am unaware of.

This is still an option, just as it always has been. Moderation is key, but you won't be banned for innocuous pedo comments. I don't entirely agree with becky threatening to ban you for it, and this was also not discussed on IRC. An actual ban would have been discussed however, and I would not have agreed with it. In general I make it a policy to agree with the mods unless I really disagree, especially on trivial matters such as a thread. Though this time I don't, not really.
