Of course it is gay. The sport is founded on letting homosexual men and women express their sexuality.
But that is okay. It is a positive expression of homosexuality. Even as a heterosexual I am very happy to see that there is this sport that pushes for gay acceptance. I have even heard that it has a large heterosexual following.
