Topic: Why are commercials so soothing?

Is it because they can keep one in the present?

I know I'd get lost in a nostalgia trip if i didn't have commercial messages to remind me that it's September 2015.

Who watches commercials? I use adblock for net and devices to record tv so I can fast forward.
I find most commercials irritating and a few beyond irritating. Used to watch the news live. Now I record it and wait 15 minutes so I can watch and wacka-mo commercials.

But then you lose the sense of time.

No I don't. I end up free from shit I do not want to view. Time trade off is nice as a trade off.

But then what if you suddenly feel like you're in the future?

For me they are, at best, dull wastes of time. At worst they are annoyances. On my mobile, where I cannot block the ads, I am often subjected to ads hijacking the whole screen.

Although sometimes there are genuinely fantastic ones on TV, like the Crushsa cats advert or the advert where a man gets a cold and his symptoms are represented by four attacking armies with guns and artillery.. Then he just squints at them and takes a pill or something and the armies all retreat while he does this wimpy, limp kick at them. It's grate.

I've been a huge fan of infomercials for as long as I could remember. I often watch Billy Mays, Vince Offer, and Anthony Sullivan videos... even to this day.
