The Chinese fucking. English students were rowdy, disrespectful, and stupid. The Chinese fucking WON.

If Marsden had only put his kid in a Chinese high school, he might have made something of himself.

I saw it, yes.

I'm really not sure of its validity as an experiment. Essentially, the situation was that a group of British students were taught by Chinese teachers, in the Chinese style and were somewhat immersed into Chinese culture. The problem with that is that it's sort of a "novel situation". The Eglish students may have done better at least in part just because they were getting special attention in the form of new teachers and activities, or because they were being observed by a TV crew.

I think a better way to compare the two systems might be to do it longer-term (maybe for a year?) and possibly have some Chinese students concurrently try the British method for the same time too. Also remove the overt observation by the film crews.

As for how rude the students were, you have to keep in mind that it's a TV show. We were shown lots of clips of students messing around because it's entertaining compared to scenes of them siting around quietly, and it better establishes a sense of drama since it makes it seem like the Chinese teachers could fail. I'm not saying that the British kids weren't bad at times, but maybe don't take it as an accurate reflection of the whole experiment.
