almost nothing works on my computer, i can't open images without using a browser or delete them because the folder is "corrupt", no installers work in the folder, i can't boot in safe mode because something is "corrupt", i have no system restore points, downloading hardly ever works and my virus scanner comes up with absolutely nothing
i just want to know what the hell could have caused all this?
Could be the registry, could be your file system (have you tried chkdsk or fsck or whatever you use) got some shit mixed up, or maybe your hard drive itself.

i think i'll just get a new computer, probably slightly cheaper and i'll be more careful with it

@previous (A)
Why not save your bookmarks and just re-install the OS?
Give that a try before you throw in the towel.
Maybe time to give win 10 a try.

I had the exact thing happen to me a couple of months ago, right after I did a windows update. Turns out it was one of the updates, even system restore couldn't fix it, did a complete re install and now it's as good as new.

@595,020 (dw)
This is the most likely explanation.

i just turned my computer on after having it off for a while and it said it was "repairing C" but it didn't do anything, i've had an idea that fixed a couple of things though
