When AMD Zen hits the market. I think even Apple, one of Intel Iris graphics biggest fans, will be dancing on Iris' grave with an all new x86 core design, SMT, up to 40% more instructions per clock and very reasonable TDP.

Moore's law, the too-often cited suggestion that "transistor density will double every 18 to 24 months", is no longer descriptive of reality. Seriously, did people think that transisters would get smaller than Planck lengths? Single-thread clock speed hit a wall years ago too.

But it was never a law. Gordon Moore just said "hey it looks like transistor density is doubling every couple years" back in the 60s and then everyone else made it a law.
