I was in the apple store today, just browsing, trying to find a new iPhone case. After about ten minutes I couldn’t find anything good so I walked towards the exit. It was 7 pm and I was totally pooped out from lifting some clothes (oops) But…As I was heading out, I saw the cutest little girl holding her daddy’s hand. In one hand the man had a new macbook pro box with a smaller apple bag, and in the other his little girl’s tiny hand. Almost in slow motion, the girl tripped over her shoelace and went tumbling down, letting out a shriek. The man looked frantically at his fallen daughter, putting his macbook pro and bag behind him while swooping down to pick her up. In the mere two seconds that macbook pro was laying vulnerable on the floor, I seized the opportunity. In one smooth motion, I bent down and swept the macbook pro and the other bag into my huge H&M bag. Without even the blink of an eye, I walked out of the store’s entrance and into the hustling crowd of the mall. I didn’t even look behind me. I didn’t care. I just really fucking wanted the money and knew this haul could help me pay off bills. THE ADRENALINE RUSH AFTER WAS INSANE. I was sweating, heart beating fast, and paranoia clouded my mental abilities. After about three minutes of fast walking, I started checking behind me. Looking behind me every five seconds, I spotted an older looking man in a black polo and khakis who seemed a little out of place. I briskly walked through the mall, making a beeline for the exit. Yet I kept seeing that guy behind me, and he seemed to be staring me down and closing distance on me. I decided on a whim to try to throw him off by entering the macy’s bathroom. I sped into the bathroom and locked the door, breathing heavy and on the verge of a panic attack. I stayed there for about thirty minutes trying to remain calm. Soon my breathing slowed and my face regained some of its color. I finally mustered up the courage to open the bathroom door and planned on making a fast exit towards my car outside. I looked both ways and practically bolted through the door. Unfortunately I only got about three steps from outside of Macy’s when two security guards grabbed hold of my arms and shouted at me that I needed to come with them. I knew instantly my greedy nature got me busted. To sum it all up, I admitted to the theft and had to give security all my shoplifted stuff in my purse. I got a citation and police were called, and I honestly don’t know if I will face a misdemeanor or felony. Literally fuck life.
