Yes. A lot of the movie is practical effects, the backgrounds are mostly CGI, and the stuff about Charlize Theron's character being a badass are true.
It's really the best movie of the year, that I've seen (I haven't seen anything else this year though, but I'm sure it still would be). Also, Tom Hardy is incredible (in everything, I recommend Bronson as well, it's insane and a lot of its somewhat true)
