Topic: An Indiana woman literally just married the Son of God

Jessica Hayes decided both love and God were her thing, and found a way to marry these ideas. Literally. In a celebration at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Fort Wayne, Ind. last week, Hayes married Jesus Christ.
Hayes conceded this wasn’t always her dream wedding. Her decision to marry our father in heaven was not what she “envisioned for herself as a little girl,” but it all still came with the “same struggles any bride-to-be would have, like finding the perfect dress.”
Standing alone in a bridal gown at the altar of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Fort Wayne, Ind., the 38-year old dropped to the floor. When the ceremony finished, Hayes joined a small, yet deeply devout group of Catholics known as "consecrated virgins."
She became one of just 200 women in the United States and is currently the only consecrated virgin at the Fort Wayne-South Bend Diocese.

Huh. I would've thought that the church wouldn't like this.

No, the idea of marrying Jesus. It seems a bit... Personal? Like they're staking some sort of personal claim or connection onto Jesus. It seems inappropriate, to me anyway.

I grew up believing Nuns were married to Jesus. They do wear a wedding ring. Getting a straight answer on the web is complicated. It seems to depend on which order the Nuns belong to.
One Nun says > I have described Christ as my spouse (I did so in my perpetual eremitical profession liturgy in fact), but I would never call him my husband. While both statements are meaningful and important, the >first statement is figurative, the second is more literal. Sister Laurel M O'Neal, Er Dio > Stillsong Hermitage > Diocese of Oakland

Yeah, I would thought they would shy away from something like this. Jesus the polygamist seems a little weird.

Yeah, this is amongst the weirder codes of canon law of the Catholic church:
Can. 604 §1 The order of virgins is also to be added to these forms of consecrated life. Through their pledge to follow Christ more closely, virgins are consecrated to God, mystically espoused to Christ and dedicated to the service of the Church, when the diocesan Bishop consecrates them according to the approved liturgical rite.
§2 Virgins can be associated together to fulfil their pledge more faithfully, and to assist each other to serve the Church in a way that befits their state.

So we're recognizing unions between people living today and the deceased?
In this case, can I marry Roman Emperor Elagabalus?
It might be seen as a lesbian relationship however.

Do you think Jesus is into BDSM?

Virgins to assist each other to serve the Church.
Hummmmmmmm Perhaps the Catholic Priests take that literally
