Stuff @591,856 (C)
The one where designers think anybody actually wants to wear the stuff you see on catwalks.

i knew a girl that did fashion modeling and she told me those fashions aren't ever meant to be worn, but are more like interpretations on the
mood of a collection.
something like that.
i likened it to a mood book, i think is what they are called, so like if you're a designer making a new blender for GE or like a new car, you might be given a mood book with pictures of
avocados or
splashes of red paint or
1950s chrome bumpers or
sleek lines of an airplane, that kind of thing. and then you iterate on those themes (maybe they are called theme books? fuck i don't remember) and let them influence your design so when you're done it would fit right into that book like it belonged with those pictures.
the catwalk stuff is just like
extreme concepts that capture the same theme and very strongly highlight and capture the mood of their new fall collection or whatnot.
and if you were to wear something from their collection you'd be able to "fit in" on the stage with the catwalk model and at least have the same
themes even if you don't stand out as dramatically.
but, grain of salt, she wasn't a catwalk model for a designer, she did fashion trunk shows which are more like modeling the actual collection of real clothes to buy.
