Use adblock plus. Since MC reuses duplicate images, you can block the filename for images you don't want to see.

How about the ability to hide threads from view? that way, if someone sees something they don't like, it's gone to them. They then wouldn't keep seeing it bumped and don't have to participate in discussion. It'd be a very simple, yet manual, self-filter.
