So if you get cold sores, apparently you have herpes, specifically HSV type 1, which can also be passed to other parts of the body. If you're a nasty motherfucker and you decide to touch and pop a cold sore, you've then got the virus on your hand. Then it's conceivable that you could decide to get down and dirty with yourself, resulting in genital herpes. And yet sex educators still claim that the only way to 100% avoid STDs is through abstinence.
