Is a Republican Sarah Palin supporter. Sanders grew up in Brooklyn and spent his entire political career working for civil rights. He has a perfect rating from the NAACP for five years and marched with MLK Jr.
But they are still tearing into him on Gawker media and tumblr. This makes me sick.

I can't read Gawker because it pushes my blood pressure into the danger zone but I tried to read two posts about Bernie Sanders and I just can't believe it. One post, by Hamilton Nolan, Don't Piss on Your Best Friend was very reasonable but then Jason Parham's response Lessons in Etiquette: Protest and the Politics of Civility reminded me why I don't read any of the Gawker blogs:
The trouble is the language Nolan uses to police black suffering (and, really, the belief that it needs to be governed at all). He calls the protest of Sanders, who, lest we forget, is a politician, “counterproductive,” “remarkably dumb,” and “stupid.” He also reduces the trauma voiced by BLM Seattle members to shouting, which is both irresponsible and disrespectful of the group’s core belief that activism can shift political and social change (mostly because it has in other cities where racial discord and injustice are widespread). At its heart, Nolan’s message translates to: Wait, just listen! Bernie can fix the structural inequality that has plagued this country since its birth. There is an underlying sense (a posture, if you will) that he somehow knows what is best for Black Lives Matter protestors (Atlantic writer Conor Friedersdorf raised a similar point). I hesitate to label this privilege, mostly because Nolan often writes wonderfully on class inequality and America’s poor and is generally aware of his position in our country’s race-based hierarchy, but his assessment of the Sanders incident was misguided.

I'm not in your side that they were totally wrong either. They should have done it better than their half-assed plan but it achieved its goals by recieving such attention in a way that a question from the crowd wouldn't have done and they have an important message that Bernie wasn't talking about in his manifesto, that race relations are fucked up in the USA.

A lotof the comments say this happened because of the major candidates, Bernie's the only accessible one doing low security public access events. Hillary's Secret Service thugs would have tazed, pepper sprayed and cuffed the BLM ladies, and Trump probably would have physically shoved them off stage (complete with a "You're fired!" quip).

what did they have to say anyway? I never actually heard their message, just heard about their methods. (which is why protests should be peaceful and respectful, their message gets drowned out by their means if they are anything but Gandhi-like)
