Topic: Everyone - Vote Trump

hater !JGlOo5d1iU started this discussion 11 years ago #44,583

Let's make Donald trump the next president. He'll be great. Every day will be a new thing to laugh at, and he won't be a terrible president. Probably better than Obama. I don't know what his stance is on any positions, but how much worse can it get?

She sent like two emails from a private server! How could you vote for that monster?

I like how she raised Chelsea to simply not care about money.

What makes you think Trump is going to be the savior that shuts down Guantanamo Bay or cease drone attacks in the Middle East?

Hell, he even implied he was going to send group troops there.

I don't think he is, but I've made it clear I'm voting for him because it will be entertaining.

say, are you fellas allowed to vote for pres and vice separately, or are you forced to vote for the pair at once? cuz Trump and maybe, best case, Sanders as vice would be pretty funny

> Every day will be a new thing to laugh at, and he won't be a terrible president

Yes every day will be a new thing to laugh at because he would essentially be a petulant child pretending he is dictator because he doesn't understand that the US runs on a system of checks and balances and feels like he should be king. He will actually be a stupid choice for President for all the aforementioned reasons. Why does every government agency have to be run like a business funding itself with "fees" rather than tax revenues? You are charging people for a postal service or road repair and then taxing them again? And then just not doing any road repair?? Are we not paying taxes for a service? Why are we paying taxes if that is the case? Why doesn't our defence budget have to fund itself in the same way? Why can't that be viewed as a business that funds itself?

He won't be a terrible president compared to the other presidents we've had recently or will have. The status quo will be maintained. The president doesn't have more power thanh the wealthy elite who controls the senators and congress.

Saying that he won't be bad compared to some others is about as strong an argument as saying you're rich compared to that guy sleeping under the bus stop. It's so close to meaningless you may as well not bother to waste time saying it.

Comparing to historical and current models is of immense value. He can't fuck things up too bad, I mean under Bush's presidency the US literally invaded a non-actively hostile government to try and sell Democracy to the middle east (vietnam 2.0) and it doesn't matter. Though, I desire chaos.

What if the US could fire citizens. How would they be disposed of? Pack up your shit and get out in one hour, to where, the sea? That's how you run a country like a corporation: you fire the citizens and hire cheaper foreign ones.

And opened up a power vacuum that is now filled by an actively hostile ISIS. When you set out to fight terrorism and end up inadvertently creating an openly hostile terrorist nation state, you have pretty much fucked things up.

> and it doesn't matter.

Oh, okay.

You need to take what they said in context of the discussion. It hasn't had any lasting negative impact on those responsible.

Also, it's entirely possible it would've happened anyway. Al Zarqawi was gonna want to be killing Shiites anyway, and Syria was likely to happen anyway, and rises ability to defend itself was always lacking.

the justification to go there was "they have terrorists"

self-fullfilling prophecy

When I'm responding to a statement that says "He can't fuck things up too bad" and I provide an example of how someone filling the post he is trying to fill fucked things up real bad, I feel that is within the context of the discussion.

> Also, it's entirely possible it would've happened anyway.
Pre-occupation Iraqi government was pretty scary, but they probably wouldn't have gone full ISIS. Again, we took a stable nation who didn't much like us and turned it into a hotbed of militant Islamic warbands that hate us. That's failure plain and simple. Anyone can say this or that might have have happened, but pretending something was inevitable based on some hand-waving could-have-been scenario is a pretty flimsy argument.

@previous (ALS cut-your-fucking-head-off)
> self-fullfilling prophecy
I know right? It feels like our involvement pretty much guaranteed it.
