It's funny, I have a molar that has a giant black spot of decay on it, lost a good bit of enamel at the gumline, and it *never* hurts. The tooth that always hurts is a molar in the other side which looks fine!

Took a chunk of ice and placed it against the side of molar and I can confirm the nerve is very alive. Thanks
