Here are some things that annoy me:- Anyone that calls a computer a CPU.
- Anyone that tells me how to use my computer after I have owned one since I was 12-years-old and spent at least 6 hours a day on it since then.
- Anyone that says "double you double you double you dot" when directing me to a website.
- Anyone that confuses my Sony Vaio for a Mac.

Oooh, I hate those people.
I had GF whose parents did that to her constantly. She would stop by their place once in a blue moon and occasionally check her email from their house. Anytime their computer crashed, even it was months after she had been there, it was because of something she "must have downloaded" when she was there. It's not like they actually knew enough about what was going on to diagnose the problem, they just seemed to want to someone to blame. Fucking maddening.

Esp. when my mom tries to tell me how to do something. Or asks for help and doesn't let me take care of it but instead goes as slow as possible in every step. Or asks me to magically fix something without telling me what is wrong.

The fact that I have spent thousands of dollars in college to gain my knowledge, as well as countless hours studying technology on the internet, and yet people who are too ignorant/lazy to go to Google and do a minimum amount of research think that I'm obligated to impart all of my knowledge to them, and basically expect me to give them a free college course in what they don't understand.

When we first got a computer my mum complained at me for ages because I used return instead of the 'enter' key on the far right. "That might be how it's used at school but this isn't school and the computers are different here"

people who ask you how to check their email when they hear you know about computers. its like im an email wizard or something. these people can clearly check thier email and they alwaya have weird qeustion about some "system" they have or whatever... i dint have the time to learn How you check your email just to help you send some annoying chain mail and piss off your friends!

What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.
There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.
