I can see that someone who is wasted should not drive. It is not safe. I understand. But thanks to MADD, the "legal limits" are now so ridiculously low, that you can be arrested and have your life ruined for a couple of SIPS of beer an hour before you drive. Just ridiculous. What do you think?
If Matt wants too drink and endanger his own life, that's his choice. But the moment he drinks and gets on his rickshaw he is endangering everyone around him too.

I don't think there should be a minimum BAC. But I am frustrated with the automatic, no-discretion BAC zones and penalties. As much of a nightmare as police officers, prosecutors, and judges can wreak when given discretion, I think it's even worse without it.

There's an easy way to avoid all that.

I once served on a jury for a DUI - Bartender who if convicted wood lose his job.
He hired a super attorney who did get 2 of the 3 charges kicked! He stopped in 2 many bars and parties on his way home from work - with witnesses that said he had more then one drink at each place. So he ended up getting convicted.

MADD is an example of why you never give in to the constant nagging for legislature from people who's only qualification is being a mother. The lowering of the limit has not reduced drunk driving fatalities, it's only increased drunk driving arrests.
Hysterical bitching should be shut down with a good hard slap. It's past time humanity abandoned emotional reasoning.

Drunk driving kills too many people. The laws probably aren't too strict, but they aren't doing much good for anyone. We gotta attack this problem from a different angle, public cabs that only serve bars or something like that.

Or just don't give a fuck. People die. That's life. Everytime you choose to pollute the earth by driving, you should face the threat of drink drivers. People drve far too often. I drive a few times a month, and only when I must.

It's a shame there can't be some kind of compromise. Like, you can drive home drunk but only on the hard shoulder at 15mph with the hazards on.

Honestly, that would be great. Property damage is better than damage to life. Also, might kill some kids which is good cause there needs to be a few billion less humans on the planet.
