apparently valve makes too much money to worry about making non free-to-play games without microtransactions.
also it's so hyped they think they won't be able to deliver up to absurd expectations and that gamers will lynch them afterwards for not being perfect.
so it's too risky and valve doesn't need to take a risk because they are doing so well without it.
it's actually currently in production but only by a skeleton crew and is getting close to being moth-balled at this point. Like so many other games publishers are too chicken-shit to publish, half-life 3 is never to be.

Gabe Newell is a fat fucking asshole, who doesn't give a flying fuck about leaving all the Half Life fans at a cliff hanger, because he's rolling in money from Steam. He can go to hell.

Valve knows its insurance in case they ever risk going under.

Half-Life 3 is being made, actually. This time, they are using real-time progression. This means that Gordon Freeman has aged a bit. Here is a picture of the Half-Life 3 Gordon Freeman, from real gameplay.

Gosh, I'm surprised you didn't call him a faggot or say you fucked his mother, while you were at it.

That's probably quite true, actually. People have gotten very passionate and very hyped up about it. There'd surely be some big drama some aspect(s) of it if it did come out.

Actually, HL2 was so amazing, that I bet anything they did with HL3 would be beyond expectations. I have lots of faith in the HL series.

I'm not disputing that they'd probably come out with something good if they tried, just that all of the hype and expectations surrounding it would likely cause some rage.

i wonder if the "revelation" that it was being made and is now being mothballed will cause a lot of butthurt and drama.
tbh i'm pissed they're going to keep draining income from f2p games with microtransactions instead of making a game that people really want just becuase it might not be recieved well by everyone.
they are saying they don't want their flagship game series to hurt their 1.5 billion in skinner box sales.
no, they'll just keep selling surprise weapon crates and hats though. fuck making good games.
i shouldn't be shocked anyway. this is exactly the reason i have such high hopes for Cloud Imperium Games and Star Citizen. about the only way we'll get hl3 is if gamers pay for it out of pocket becuase the publisher won't touch it with a 10 foot pole.
the bastards.

A person who worked there said to some news site I follow like etechnics or something that it wasn't true!
