I've never seen a good deal in a pawn shop. I used to look in them sometimes and all I saw was worn out junk with almost-new prices. I don't know if the prices are high on purpose and you're supposed to haggle or what but I wouldn't shop for a camera in a pawn shop.

Couple of years ago I was on my way to a cell site base station and realized I needed a camera for a couple 3 shots of some guts that failed in smoke - Looked for a radioshack or something near by and spotted a pawn shop sign - They had new in box a name brand digital camera - invited me to look up prices on web with their computer - I think it was $100 or so new and they wanted $50 or so and they said I could do the shots and bring it back for only a loss of $10 - This was something I dared not bill my client for sooooo - bought the camera- Was Purrrrrfect. Put it in my glove compartment and a year later car was broken in2 and camera gone. My only experience with a pawn shop OTHER then trolling downtown LA as a teen for a tool box.
I also took back up shots with cell phone just in case download of photos might fail - Cell phones are shit for submission of anything for business use -

Did bill the client. For time which more then covered the added camera BUT I did NOT pad the bill. Honest hours n besides when one opens the door for a Verizon base station it requires direct contact with security so they no in n out time - true I could have stuck around to pad buttttt no way to treat a terrific client
