What about Münchausen by Internet? That doesn't apply there. Also, it's 93% to 7%, which would mean that your suggestion doesn't account for the huge discrepancy.

I love this site btw. So they are two different reasons that women do this. One is because its an easy money maker. These people have learned that pretty women in particular get a lot of sympathy, and help when bad things happen to them. So they make up a story and accept donations. They do it over and over again, because it works over and over again. Women are much less likely to mug someone then a man. But they do this shit all of the time. This is a very feminine crime.
I'll tell you about the second type of women who does this after my shower.

The second group of women were either very sick during their childhood or grew up around someone sick or disabled.
Some of these got a lot of attention while they were sick. They become so used to this that they do things to recreate after they are healthy. Things dont seem right unless there is sickness and drama.
Some are women who didnt get much attention while growing up, because someone close to them, usually a sibling but sometimes a parent was always ill. They try and get that parental attention feeling by using methods that they know will work, because it worked for their family member.
All of these women feel very natural an comfortable in hospitals and other medical centers, and love being around and chatting with nurses, doctors, and orderlies. They thrive on attention, and always know complicated an accurate medical jargon. If you're ever in a hospital, pay attention to how parents act with their children who are also patients. If they spend most of their time in the hospital speaking with workers, and not in the room with their child, then you are probably seeing a munchausens case.

Sometimes, but only after all of the excitement is gone. Like the when kid dies and she's no longer actively mourning, or when she gets caught.
