Topic: If I eat bacon and eggs every die, will I die?

hater !JGlOo5d1iU started this discussion 11 years ago #43,995

I'm not a cook. I've learned to make acceptable scrambled eggs. I only eat once a day, so this week my meal consists of three extra large eggs scrambled, 3 strips of bacon, toast w/butter, then I snack on peanuts and celery with blue cheese, spicy mustard, or peanut butter (I like all three toppings). I might also eat broccoli with butter, salt and pepper.

I'm trying to save money by not getting takeout every meal. It's expensive, and I have a lot of debt I need to pay off, and I'm doing it too slowly.

You will experience bad health, mostly because your diet lacks vegetables and fruit.

you will die. not necessarily from your diet, but you will.

I eat celery and broccoli. I don't know how to keep other veggies or fruit fresh.

I wouldn't worry about it unless your cholesterol numbers go crazy. If you're dieting the fat on your body should be your biggest health concern.

Cauliflower, cabbage, and carrots are all easy to keep fresh. I'm sure there are more, but those are a few things I keep in stock.

> I only eat once a day
Pretty much the same here. I've done this for at least a decade. Minus the meat. It's doable.

> this week my meal consists of three extra large eggs scrambled, 3 strips of bacon, toast w/butter, then I snack on peanuts and celery with blue cheese, spicy mustard, or peanut butter (I like all three toppings). I might also eat broccoli with butter, salt and pepper.
You should really make sure your caloric intake is somewhere within the realm of reality. If you are doing a lot of physical work you may need more protein and calories than when you are leading a more sedentary lifestyle. Your caloric intake seems extraordinarily low to even maintain body weight. (I don't know how much blue cheese you are eating, but anyone who digs P. roqueforti mold in their foods is pretty cool in my book)

@581,250 (Methlyfe)
> I wouldn't worry about it unless your cholesterol numbers go crazy
Oh yeah, and that. Eggs are weirdly high in cholesterol, but only some of it seems to be absorbed. I would keep an eye on your cholesterol levels with all the eggs and bacon. Cholesterols are only produced by animals, so if you're eating nuts, broccoli, or celery and peanut butter it shouldn't be a worry there.

I don't care about my weight. It's of no importance to me.

@581,252 (Methlyfe)
I got baby carrots and they were nasty by day 2. What can I make with cabbage that is easy and unfuck-up-able? Cause I follow YouTube videos for how to cook shit and I still fuck it up. I once made stir fry that worked, but I had a friend write extremely detailed instructions and also watch me do it. I tried replicating on my own and it was in edible.

I'm not cautioning you about weight gain. I'm saying that three extra large eggs scrambled, 3 strips of bacon, toast w/butter, celery with blue cheese, spicy mustard, or peanut butter, and broccoli with butter seems a little light for an entire week's diet. (unless I misunderstood and you meant 3 eggs + bacon + toast + snacking every day throughout the week) Not getting enough from food may impact your health.

You can cook cabbage in any kind of broth for 15-20 minutes and have a good soup by adding a few more veggies, I eat vegetable soup or stir fry every night I'm home. I too only eat one meal a day, I've been eating that way for years. I cook and eat the same meals because I like them and they are cheap, (mostly) healthy, and easy.

Regular carrots keep much better.

I snack on peanuts as well, and I might occasionally have a peanut butter sandwich. I'm robust. If I lost some weight it won't matter.

They will keep for days in the fridge, and much fruit does not even need to be refrigerated.

Anonymous B double-posted this 11 years ago, 1 minute later, 2 hours after the original post[^] [v] #581,264

Put a little vegetable oil in a pan. Heat it up. Put in some chopped garlic, let it go just a minute until it begins to slightly turn clear. Stir it so it will not burn. Put in the chopped cabbage, cook while stirring until it is as soft as you like it. Sprinkle in a little salt and pepper. There you go!

It is very hot in my apartment currently, I would not trust fruit in a humid hot climate to be good. Also, fruit flies.

Fruit flies do not come until it rots. Most fruit can be refrigerated for a few days and will be fine.

A week, maybe less. You have to check them every day. See if they get too soft.

Bacon and eggs daily is bad for you, you shouldn't do that. Vary things a bit, and try to not eat that meal more than twice a week. There are plenty of other delicious meals you can make for yourself that don't take a lot of effort. What cooking appliances do you have?

Anonymous B replied with this 11 years ago, 5 minutes later, 3 hours after the original post[^] [v] #581,291

Add into the mix some chicken, fish, pork, vegetables, and fruit, and drink one or two glasses of red wine with your dinner.

You just made me remember I can make chicken soup. I don't know how, but I think I can guess. I have a crockpot. I bought it and got excited to use it but the first thing I cooked I heard someone in the hall outside say something that sounded like they were saying it smelled really bad so I was afraid to use it after that. Chicken soup shouldn't smell, though.

Cut up half or whole entire, raw, fresh chicken. Put it in water. Add cut up carrots, celery, onion, garlic, ginger, and a couple of chili peppers. Let it cook for an hour, two if you want. Add salt and pepper at the end.

Yea, I tried to make some ginger chicken thing and and beef stew from there. I'm retarded. Didn't work out. Only thing I can make reliably is this salsa chicken I made up. Chicken and salsa and water and onions. Served on rice with a lot of hot sauce or its flavorless, but I'm afraid someone thought it stunk. It probably did. I personally would get physically ill smelling cooked food others made and don't want to be an asshole or hypocrite.

Cooking isn't really difficult, you just have to put your mind to it and take the time to do it. Just abuse the internet to get ideas for something you think might sound nice, make sure you have the ingredients and then you follow the steps laid out. After you get a little used to it, you start out planning your meals for the entire week and stock up once at the start of the week to make it so you won't have to go buy shit daily.

Stop being a whiny bitch and work on improving your life, thanks.

I've followed YouTube videos exactly and things still came out just a bunch of wasted food.

You should look to fixing the problems you have in your own life before you start criticising others. I know my limitations, you do not. Unless you are god, in which case, you only said that to make me say this. What are you playing at?

I have plenty of limitations in my life, but this thread is not the place for them. I dont think not being able to cook properly is a limitation for you. It doesn't have to be, at least. You probably just lack experience and the willpower to keep at it. Yes, you will waste food sometimes. No, you won't instantly be awesome at it. Just don't give up and you too may enjoy delicious home cooked meals. That's what I'm playing at.

If you don't want people pointing these things out, why make the thread to begin with?

Repeatedly doing the same thing and expecting different results is the definition of insanity, so I am trying new things to see if they work. You are assuming a lot that isn't true. Also, I need to eat. Not being able to eat the food I cook would mean death.

You won't die by eating most under or overcooked foods FYI. And you can always grab a banana or two on the days you fuck up. Also that quote is so tired and overused. You obviously wouldn't be doing exactly the same every time. It is called experimenting and gaining experience.

How can you not follow step by step instructions OP I don't get it

You can even freeze whole apples to keep them, and then when they thaw a bit, they're very juicy.

Bacon and Eggs every day?

Fruits and veggies needed for the anti oxidants - Fiber needed to keep Cholesterol in check and exercise is a must.

OP for some short period of life I doubt your current diet is going to hurt you. When you make more money you just eat more better - Of course some abuse that and end up eating to much fast food and to much fatty meat.
