I was going to take the piss out of this a bit, since the headline seems uselessly vague at first glance, but on deeper thought, it's actually an fairly interesting question. And not one that I can see a simple answer to.
I guess the broadest cause would be identifying with social justice's positive messages about standing up for oppressed people, and getting a bit too passionate about it.

I lost my shit at Jasprosesprite but I was hoping for more Nepetasprite before she was inevitably fucked up. There are theories that Davepetasprite is going to be a key player but at the same time, it's Davesprite and Nepeta. Hussie wouldn't let such minor characters be important.
