jesus fuck. i just spent a god damned hour on the phone with tech support. They cut my service last night to do maintenence and told me it would be off for an hour. it was off for 19
i called to tell them the shit was still off (i had already tried unplugging everything, for god's sake). They did their usual "let me send your modem a new signal" shit and they kept saying it was all fine on their end. They wanted to offer to send out a tech, but that's bullshit. they never send a tech, even when i've scheduled it. shit just suddenly magically starts working before then and i never even hear from a fucking tech. It's just a ploy to get me off the phone and i said as much, then she said she talked to "an engineer" or some shit and said HE (she made sure to let me know a man was working on it) told her that it was a bad modem. my brand new 3 month old modem was now broken, and of course it had nothing to do with the maintenance even though everything was working until 12:00AM on the spot when they cut off my service. so i said, "soooooo the stores are still open, if i go buy a new modem and it still doesn't work then is it still my fault?"
she was like, "well, it's not your fault, sir," and she said i could contact the modem manufacturer and probably get it fixed. (now she was backpeddling on her suggestion i buy a new modem.) I said i was going to go buy one and then call them back. i was actually going to do this. and i also asked how to be reimbursed for the damage their maintenance cause to my modem. of course, she denied that their maintenance couldn't damage equipment like that, and also refused to acknowledge it was more than a coincidence my modem is suddenly needing to be RMA'd or replaced.
I got off the phone after an hour of reading mac addresses and turning shit off and on. i walked the dog, fed the cat, ate a sandwich and was putting my shoes on when i checked my tablet and MAGIC
i had service again!
fuck time warner! fuck them in their stupid fucking faces. they suggested i go spend a hundred fucking dollars on a new modem or wait 4 fucking days for some fat ass technician to come and "check the outlet."
fuck you! just fucking fuck you! i don't know what the fuck they are over there doing but every time my internet drops it takes them doing something on their end to fix it and every single time they tell me it's on my god damned end and they want to accuse the modem or the router or the god damned cabling rather than admit their systems are SHIT and it costs too much to escalate me to the department that actually resets the connection!''
After i told her i'd call them back once i had a new modem that fails to connect she asked, "is there anything else we can help you with?" and i said, "not right now, but i might have you transfer me to billing if the new modem has this same problem."
