I find this to be very refreshing

Sylvia Wynanda Seegrist
(born July 31, 1960) is an American woman who on October 30, 1985 opened fire at a Springfield, Pennsylvania shopping mall, killing three people and wounding seven others before being disarmed by a Volunteer Firefighter/EMT who was shopping at the mall. The individuals killed included two men and a two-year-old boy.[1] She was 25 years old and had been diagnosed as suffering from paranoid schizophrenia 10 years earlier. Having been committed and discharged several times, her case stimulated discussion about the state's authority to commit possibly dangerous people versus individual rights.

Seegrist's story parallels those of other mentally disturbed spree killers in several ways, such as a tendency toward violent thoughts, discussions, and behavior building to a major incident.[2] Seegrist was hospitalized at least twelve times since she was fifteen years old. Silvia also had family problems. Her parents did not understand her mental disability, to make matters worse she had tomboyish looks. Seegrist attempted to enlist in the Army. At the time of her induction to the army she was viewed as a "lesbian" because of her looks to others in her platoon who harassed her about it. They went as far as to prank her by having one of their members ask her out on a fake date only to make her the butt of many jokes thereafter.[3] She spent a good deal of time at the mall she chose for the 1985 spree, harassing customers and making statements about how "good" other spree killings were, such as the 1984 San Ysidro McDonald's massacre.[4] Seegrist joined the Army in December 1984 and she was discharged two months later due to her behavioral problems. Seegrist had made herself conspicuous with unusual behavior like sitting fully clothed wearing green army fatigues at both a spa and sauna at a local fitness club. An instructor at the fitness club Seegrist attended said "she hated everyone and would often talk about shooting and killing people".

Seegrist's behavior was so disconcerting that clerks at a local K-Mart told her they had no rifles in stock when she tried to purchase one from them. She eventually purchased a Ruger 10/22 at another store, and on October 30, 1985 she went to the mall. The first trip that day was not the rampage, as she shopped for Halloween items at a party store and worked out at the club before returning to the Springfield Mall for the last time.

This bitch was a poisoner and a spree shooter!

Laurie Dann (née Wasserman; October 18, 1957 – May 20, 1988) was an American murderer who shot and killed one boy and wounded two girls and three boys in a Winnetka, Illinois elementary school. She then took a family hostage and shot another man before killing herself.

During the days before May 20, 1988, Laurie Dann prepared rice cereal snacks and juice boxes poisoned with the diluted arsenic she had stolen in Madison. She mailed them to a former female friend, ex-babysitting clients, her psychiatrist, Russell Dann, and others. In the early morning of May 20, she personally delivered snacks and juice "samples" to other friends, acquaintances, and families for whom she had babysat, some of whom had not seen her for years.[1][2] Other snacks were delivered to Alpha Tau Omega, Psi Upsilon, and Kappa Sigma fraternity houses and Leverone Hall at Northwestern University in Evanston.[1][2] Notes were attached to some of the deliveries.[6][7][8] The drinks were often leaking and the squares unpleasant tasting, so few were actually consumed. In addition, the arsenic was highly diluted so nobody became seriously ill.
At about 9:00 a.m. on the 20th, Dann arrived at the home of the Rushe family, former babysitting clients in Winnetka, Illinois, to pick up their two youngest children. The family had just told Dann they were moving away.[2] Instead of taking the children on the promised outing, she took them to Ravinia Elementary School in Highland Park, Illinois, where she erroneously believed that both of her former sister-in-law's two sons were enrolled (in fact, one of Dann's intended targets was not even a student at the school). She left the two children in the car while she entered the school and tried to detonate a fire bomb in one of the school's hallways. After Dann's departure, the small fire she set was subsequently discovered by students, and quickly extinguished by a teacher. She drove to a local daycare attended by her ex-sister-in-law's daughter and tried to enter the building with a plastic can of gasoline, but was stopped by staff.

Next Dann drove the children back to their home and offered them some arsenic-poisoned milk, but the boys spat it out because it tasted strange to them. Once at their home, she lured them downstairs and used gasoline to set fire to the house, trapping their mother and the two children in the basement (they managed to escape).[1][2][9] She drove three and a half blocks to the Hubbard Woods Elementary School with three handguns in her possession. She wandered into a second grade classroom for a short while, then left. Finding a boy in the corridor, Dann pushed him into the boys' washroom and shot him with a .22 semi-automatic Beretta pistol. Her Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum revolver jammed when she tried to fire it at two other boys, and she threw it into the trash along with the spare ammunition. The boys ran out of the washroom and raised the alarm.[1] Dann then re-entered the second grade classroom where students were working in groups on a bicycle safety test. She ordered all the children into the corner of the room. The teacher refused and attempted to disarm Dann, managing to unload the Beretta in the struggle. Dann drew a .32 Smith & Wesson from the waistband of her shorts and aimed it at several groups of the students. She shot five children, killing eight-year-old Nicholas Corwin and wounding two girls and two boys before fleeing in her car.[2]

Dann was prevented from leaving the area by car because the roads were closed for a funeral cortege. She decided to drive her car backwards down the nearby street, but the road dead-ended into a private drive. Abandoning her car, she removed her bloodstained shorts and tied a blue garbage bag around her waist. With her two remaining guns she made her way through the woods and came upon the house of the Andrew family. Dann entered the house and met a mother and her twenty-year-old son, who were in the kitchen. She claimed she was raped and had shot the rapist in the struggle.[2][10] The Andrews were sympathetic[10] and tried to convince her that she need not fear the police because she had acted in self-defense. Mrs. Andrew gave Dann a pair of her daughter's pants to wear. While she was putting them on, Philip Andrew was able to pick up and pocket the Beretta. He suggested that she call her family. Dann agreed and called her mother, telling her she had done something terrible and that the police were involved. Philip took the phone and explained Dann's story about the rape and shooting, suggesting that Mrs. Wasserman come to get Dann; Mrs. Wasserman said she could not come because she did not have a car.

Mr. Andrew arrived home, and they continued to argue with Dann, insisting she give up the second gun. Dann called her mother again and this time Mr. Andrew spoke with Mrs. Wasserman, asking her to persuade Dann to give up the gun. While Dann spoke with her mother, Mrs. Andrew left the house and alerted the police. Mr. Andrew told Dann that he would not remain in the house if she did not put down the gun, and also left the house. Dann ordered Philip to stay. Just before noon, seeing the police advancing on the house she shot Philip in the chest, but he managed to escape out the back door before collapsing and being rescued by the police and ambulance personnel.

With the house surrounded, Dann went upstairs to a bedroom. The Wassermans and Russell Dann were brought to the house. At about 7:00 p.m., an assault team entered the house while Mr. Wasserman attempted to get Dann's attention with a bullhorn. The police found her body in the bedroom; she had shot herself in the mouth.

Jennifer San Marco (December 6, 1961 – January 30, 2006), a former US Postal Service employee who shot and killed seven people in Goleta, California on January 30, 2006, before taking her own life.

On January 30, 2006, San Marco shot and killed her one-time neighbor, Beverly Graham, and then drove to the mail processing plant at which she previously worked in Goleta, California. San Marco entered the sprawling plant by driving through a gate behind another car. She gained entry to the building by taking an employee's identification badge at gunpoint.[1] She then shot and killed six employees of the plant with a pistol before taking her own life.[citation needed]

San Marco apparently believed that she was the target of a conspiracy centered at the Goleta postal facility, according to writings recovered from her house in New Mexico. A spokesman for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office speculated that San Marco's paranoia and history of mental illness may have motivated her to commit the murders.

Jillian Robbins
http://articles.philly.com/1996-09-18/news/25635183_1_penn-state-students-centre-community-hospital-hub

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — The great, lush lawn behind the Hetzel Union Building - simply ``the HUB'' to Penn State students - has traditionally been a place for Frisbee tossing, rock concerts and sunworshiping.

Yesterday, it echoed with lethal gunfire.

About 9:35 in the morning, under a dreary, drizzly sky, 19-year-old Jillian Robbins lay on a tarp on the HUB lawn at the state university and randomly targeted passersby through the telescopic sight of a high-powered rifle.

One of her five shots traveled 138 feet to kill Melanie Spalla, 19, a communications major from Altoona. Another wounded Nicholas Mensah, a 22-year-old Philadelphian from Ghana. A third student later found bullet fragments in his book bag.

The toll might have been higher if not for 21-year-old senior Brendon Malovrh of Downingtown, who tackled Robbins before the high school dropout could finish reloading the German-made 7mm. bolt-action Mauser.

Robbins, a hunter who sported a Mohawk haircut, was well acquainted with the use of rifles, according to police and friends.

In March 1994, as a high school junior, she joined the Army Reserve in a program that sent her to basic training the summer before her senior year. Part of the training included handling modern rifles. At the time, Robbins was in the Delta school, an alternative-education program that is part of State College Area High School. When she failed to obtain enough credits to graduate, she was discharged in June 1995. Two months later, at 18, she married Kenneth Williams, whose father, Walter D. Williams, lives in Philadelphia. The couple later divorced.

About a year ago, she worked at Ye Olde College Diner, a bakery and eatery on College Avenue, the main street abutting the campus.

A high school classmate said she did not think Robbins was capable of murder.

``This shocks me, totally shocks me, said Joanne Twark, now a junior at Penn State. ``She seemed quiet and nice and nothing like the person that would do this.

Twark remembers her as somewhat of a loner but a good student.

``She seemed pretty smart, she said. ``In the classes I had with her, she seemed pretty intelligent and interested in school.

Robbins' attack was methodical, according to police. She picked a spot where bushes and low-hanging trees kept her from view but gave her a clear sight line across the long lawn, a popular shortcut for students walking to classes and buildings in the heart of the campus.

Directly across from her was a 25-foot sculpture of a rifle-toting soldier falling to the ground after being shot.

She spread a plastic tarp on the ground and flattened herself on it. Her Mauser rifle was a World War II-era model with ammunition fed into the top; this one had been modified for sport.

Robbins, police say, did not know her victims.

Interview with the shooter

Her claims

Hallucinations as a 10th grader, hearing voices and seeing "tall, dark people with dark coats and no eyes." About two years later, she signed up for the U.S. Army Reserve, where she would become a rifle expert.

She lied on the enlistment form, denying she had any mental illness and not informing officers of a subsequent stint in a psychiatric ward.

Returning from the 10-week Army basic training before her senior year in high school, she felt "a lot more aggressive."

"I believe it was screwed up," Robbins said in the deposition, "Because they'd pretty much take anyone and then break them down and turn them into someone who could kill."

Getting the Mauser, a family hunting rifle, from her father, Du Bois resident David Robbins, and taking it to State College where she lived.

"He specifically told me, 'Don't sell it and don't shoot anybody,'" Robbins recounted about getting the rifle a year before the shooting.

Telling Wilbur Wadlington, a State College psychologist who was treating her in the months before the shooting, of urges to "commit random acts of violence" -- and of owning the Mauser.

"Did he ever express any concerns that you had a rifle in your access?" asked the Spallas' counsel, Pittsburgh lawyer Kelly Enders.

"No," Robbins answered.

Sheriff says Mary Ann Holder, 36, shot sons Robert, 17, and Zachary, 14, in the head. Robert died.

She also shot ex-lover, who had filed a restraining order, her niece, 8, nephew, 17, and son's girlfriend, 15. Her niece died on Monday.

Deputies found a note where Holder "took responsibility" for her actions, but said she had been "wronged."

The Guilford County Sheriff's Office said Mary Ann Holder shot six people and turned the gun on herself Sunday. Her 17-year-old son, Dylan Smith died at the scene. 8-year-old Hannaleigh Suttles died on Monday. 3 other victims are in critical condition.

Her sixth victim was Randal Lamb, who survived the shooting. The Sheriff's Office said Lamb and Holder had an affair in the past.

The Sheriff's Office said Lamb's wife contacted an attorney to start the process of an alienation of affection lawsuit. However, that was never filed and it never went to court. Rather, the Sheriff's Office said the Lambs and Holder reached an "out of court settlement" the day before the shooting. They would not elaborate but said they are investigating all of this as a possible motive.

Family law attorney Carolyn Woodruff said, "An alienation of affection essentially is someone has rear-ended a marriage and caused the marriage to break up like you might cause a crunch in a car and if there's damages related to that, that's recoverable."

She bought $200 in groceries for her household during the day and seemed calm, mere hours before she murdered them.
