Our dog was sick beyond hope. We went to the doctors to end her pain, however i was most surprised when the doctor asked if we wanted to stay the very last moment and my family said no. Was that wrong? Should i have said something? We went away shortly after she had fallen asleep with the aid of a sedative. The whole family was crying in that tiny room, it was crazy.

First of all I'm very sorry for your loss. It's so rough to lose a beloved pet, though if she was very sick it was probably for the best to end her suffering. You staid with her for as long as she was conscious so I do not think it's wrong to not want to witness the bitter end. Try to remember her how she was and try to find solace in that her suffering is now over.
