It's true, no one gives a fuck about making their side of the bushes look nice. But their side of the bushes is still our property. None of the trimmings touch their property. Should I tell them to fuck off?

The neighborly thing to do is clean up the trimmings yourself since it is your mess, even if you aren't legally obligated to do it. If you want to be rude you can tell them it's still on your property so tough shit. If you want to be an asshole you can start the process of adverse possession! If you think they're mad when you leave a mess on your own property, wait until they find out you legally own parts of their property and there is nothing they can do about it! It will take a couple years but boy will the payoff be worth it.

At my uncle's house, his old neighbors gave us the okay to go in their yard and make their side even/clean up anything on their side. However, they never [made] us trim their side of the bushes, and they didn't take offense if we trimmed their shit and had them clean up a little bit of mess. I think them complaining about you saving them a chore is a dick move.
