Shitty, sensationalist, trashy clickbait media. Anyone, especially an employer, that sees a lack of a Facebook profile as a "red flag" is a moron. But then, I suppose this just goes to show how creepy and unsettling Facebook's pervasiveness can be.
Also, I see that the Mail distorted what the Psychologists said. They just noted that the shooters lacked a Facebook profile, yet the Mail implies they said that anyone lacking a Facebook profile might be unstable.

i hate facebook. i have an account but it's very sanitized. full of random pics of stuff and people, very little about me personally. i don't update my wall or whatever and i don't use it ever. but apparently i had to have it so some friends made it for me.
looks like i pass the test though.

Why don't you have a Facebook profile?

A general question to everyone, has an employer ever asked for your Facebook details? Because apparently this is a thing that sometimes happens, now.
Hasn't happened to me yet, though. And I don't expect it will.

Because I'm not generally very social, and don't have any strong desire to set up and maintain one.
Though I may set up a LinkedIn, on the recommendation of my old Psychology lecturer. Would be handy for employment networking and such,

I just keep evidence of drug use and smoking and heavy drinking off mine and don't post anything on my wall

Facebook is for mid 30s females who like to gossip and bitch about people. College kids left facebook when their parents joined and started snooping on them.

Only the stupid ones. The smart ones never added their parents or heavily restricted what they could see.

In my work facebook seems like a massive networking tool. When I'm working with new techs or techs I haven't worked with before half of them want to friend me and I've found myself trying to friend them. Their pages are always filled with picture of jobs they are working or or have done.

I've never understood why anyone puts their personal information online when it can be used to ruin their lives. Clearly, it's extremely difficult to protect ourselves from online surveillance, but we shouldn't make it any easier for either the government or garden-variety stalkers.
