I tipped 50$ to a male stripper so that my friend would get some good birthday pictures. He ended up fingering her in the bathroom, and that was pretty funny.

Like £10, once? I rarely ever tip, except very occasionally in (good) restaurants and sometimes delivery drivers. We just don't really tip here.

tipping one or two euros is pointless

I tipped my tattoo artist $40. I think one time during a meeting at a nice restaurant the bill was well over $200 so we tipped $50 but I think $25 of that was mine.

So why is it that restaurants developed this universal thing about tipping, when most other services didn't? What's different about restaurants?

If you tip too much, then you're really giving the whole shaft

Highest I've tipped at a restaurant was $20 included with my number. I think it's appropriate after blowing $100-200 on sushi. Used to be a weekend routine for me and a friend of mine.

Do you mean percentage wise or just the actual dollar amount. I've paid $5 for something, and then given the waiter a $20 bill, and that would be a 400% tip.
