It only works In a controlled environment, and they didn't even develop the tech themselves they had an outside contractor do it, it's gonna be used in some dumbfuck hover board commercial because hey it's not like we don't already have loads of those

i looked at the kickstarter, it's pretty cool, but the "white box" dev kit thing isn't really all that powerful and looks more like a desk toy than anything. i mean the whole thing is pretty cool, i'd like to know how they are using super conductors without incredible cooling. am i expected to keep a dewar of liquid nitrogen around when i want to show it off? i guess i'm missing something. maybe it's just electromagnetic and it's floating on an induced electric field in the floor?
and the controllable version is like 700 bucks, no, i'm going to wait until they have a consumer product ready and i'll look into it then.
but if i could build one into a power supply and levitate a small amount of weight perpetually then i have some uses for that: shock isolation.
anyway, what i'm really interested in right now are 3d printers, but they still aren't there yet. i was up at microcenter the other day looking at the makerbot, that thing has really come a long way.

ah, okay, it's apparently using motors and neodymium magnets or something. idk, people will tear apart their dev kits and explain it all in great detail. if they get them, they haven't shipped any and are late. so, we'll see.

oh, wait, there's multiple ones. the Hendo hoverboard is the kickstarter, i guess this one by lexus or whoever does use liquid nitrogen and superconductors. cool.
