in HBO's Rome the senate was headed by a main character and was full of other major characters as well. Star Wars senate was full of supporting characters and the mains almost never were present. Pretty much all of star wars senate scenes could have been cut and explained via exposition. "The Galactic Senate has rejected our peace treaty, etc" rather than having a whole scene and several lines of dialog and many minutes of screen time showing the treaty be rejected or whatever. in Rome you couldn't have done that, because much of the point of the show was about what happened IN senate, whereas Star Wars was about what happened because the senate. watching space-C-span fucking sucked and was totally out of place in a Star Wars movie.
not to mention the pacing, which was slow as fuck and annoying. You'd be getting into a cool action scene and the energy would just get sapped because the next scene was 7 minutes of senate arguing about trade federations and it just completely fucked up the pacing of the whole thing. watching it felt like driving down a street with too many red lights making you stop and wait every few hundred feet. by the time i got to the end i was just wanting to get the fuck off of that stupid ass street and never go down it again.
i have no thoughts on Rogue One.

I'm looking forward to Rogue One a little bit more than Episode VII.
It's basically a fourth prequel since it is set before Episode IV.

yeah. they can't straight up reboot star wars. nerds would never ever ever allow for a reboot of star wars. prequels and sequels are all they can pull off.
will it be good? it'll probably be derivative. will it be entertaining? probably. for me anyways, but scifi is my fav so i try to enjoy what they make.
still, nothing star wars will ever trump episode 4. it's really a masterpiece of scifi.

people are gonna bitch because while it's a Battlefront reboot it is a bit distant from the previous two, even though it may be a good game by its own merits anyways

But I like episode 1. Though that is probably partly because I grew up with it, rather than growing up with the originals and watching the prequels later.

Sort of agree.
I think it'll be fun on its own merit, but I also think that in cutting out key elemts of the previous Battlefront (Space Battles, the Clone Wars), it could end up a weaker and less interesting game.
Still, on the whole I'm cautiously optimistic for it, right now.
