That's stamp duty. The buyer pays 1% of the value one time when they purchase or 2% (i think) if the property is over a higher value. There was going to be a tax on really expencive houses but the party who wanted did not get elected

Stamp duty is a one time tax the buyer pays which is equal to about 1%

Council tax is something everyone pays even if you're renting.

Inheritance tax is low if the property is worth under £1 million and it's in the event that someone dies and leaves you their house.

I don't see how any of that relates to your comment about property only good if I sell up and live under a bridge
