I think the U.N. could/should encourage China to have better human rights, but the U.S. should stay out of it. I'm sick of the U.N. passing whatever the fuck it wants and then passing it to the U.S. and expects us to be their world police force.
Plus, I dunno if we'll ever stabilize the economy. I'm starting to think that the government is intentionally trying to keep it on edge because they get more military recruits when no one between the ages of 18-25 can find a job with a livable wage.

It makes so much sense it's scary. I'm 25, have a bachelor's degree, have been working with a good company for 4 years, and they pay me a decent wage, but they have my hours forced so far back that there's no way I can live off what I have now, and they're showing no signs of changing, nor does there seem to be anyone else in the job market interested in me. At the current rate things are going, I'm gonna be living with my parents till I'm 30, because there's no way I can live on my own with what I make, and I have no significant other to split rent with. I know a guy who's paying $800/month to live out of a motel that's smaller than the cheapest hotel room you could imagine. I'd rather just be in prison than pay that much for that lifestyle.
So, I figured that if my financial situation hasn't improved after this summer, I'm either going back to school and quitting my job to focus on school 100%, or I might as well join the military. At least they have to hire me and I'm guaranteed to be taken care of, plus it would open doors for me and look great on the resume. Not to mention that I have a degree and I'm smarter than 99% of the retards that are in the military.
But then it occurred to me, that this is probably exactly what they want. Recruiters have a hard time convincing the smart kids who have the option of going to college to join the military instead of going to college, but if the market for fresh college graduates is complete shit, and any jobs or internships they do manage to get couldn't possibly give them any financial independence, then that leaves them with three options: live with parents indefinitely, end up broke and homeless and/or in jail, or join the military. And that's pretty much where I am now.
It's probably a scheme that republicans are banking on, as they probably don't want the economy to recover until Obama is out of office, and it gets them military recruits at the same time. Or maybe the economy is just shit because the federal government doesn't know wtf they're doing when it comes to economics, and the fact that it's getting them more recruits is just a lucky coincidence.

This. Most Chinese citizens either hate their government and would gladly let America take over, or only tolerate the Chinese government because they are so docile and would be equally docile to an American takeover. They are protective of their culture and way of life, not their government. The only reason China has such a huge military is because military service is mandatory. Most of the people in the military still fall in the above 2 categories and wouldn't offer much resistance. China relies mainly on intimidation. If world superpowers had a good enough reason to unite against China, it would quickly crumble.
Also, America is thinking about defaulting on all the money we owe them. I can't wait to see how that goes. China would want to go to war with us, but they'd have no fucking assets to do so. Nobody would ever loan America money again though.

Our national debt is approaching 16 trillion, and they own most of that debt. If we default, it's basically like stealing 10 trillion dollars from them. It would be like you or me buying our own fully-loaded aircraft carrier on credit, then just sailing off into the world and never making a payment.

I'm not sure what's going on with it right now, but considering the condition of our economy, and considering that about 15% of all our tax dollars go towards just paying interest on the national debt alone, I'd say it's good time for the government to declare bankruptcy and say fuck anyone we owe money to. What are they gonna do? Come repossess it? It just means no one will ever loan money to the U.S. ever again, and quite frankly I think that's a good thing because it would force our government to have some fiscal responsibility. If you give a credit card to a kid in case of emergencies, and the kid abuses it, you take it away. The U.S, has abused about 16 trillion dollars.

Calling it a "really gay thing to do" isn't a good rebuttal for why it would be a good or bad thing from a political perspective. Investments are risks, and our country is fucking bankrupt, which means those investors lose. Sucks for them, but that's what happens when you're an investor. It would save the American people 15% a year on their taxes just from the interest we would no longer be paying, not to mention the trillions of dollars we'd save.
