Topic: The horrible plague of victim-hood

Anonymous A started this discussion 11 years ago #42,905

Am i the only one who has come to realize that it is best to avoid victim-hood by all means? That the groups concerned with equality are contaminated with it all? They have this uncomfortable feeling with them, this feeling is the feelings of victims.

I am not saying that all kinds of people do not face injustice but that it feels a lot like almost all the groups concerned with those things are not something that gives you hope or
the energy to be in them or even around them. If you do so, you will slowly feel the uncomfortable feelings of victim hood.

I do agree that there seem to be people who want to "change" things by trying to spread the victim-ness around by shaming others. I do not think this helps. If anything, it seems to alienate others and decrease their ability to empathize. It's just making resentful enemies when your goal is to make understanding friends.

Yeah well said. I think this is a huge problem in my life, all my life i have been growing up with this victim-hood culture which just seems to be more and more about being the victim or seeing other people as victims. The problem is that you realize that there is injustice and something needs to be done about it but being brought up in victim culture means you are kind of unable to deal with it in other ways then to just make victims of people and yourself. Which is in a way dehumanizing.
