I have no idea how to win the triangle puzzle with the center star.

I've more or less lost when trying to play defensive.

You really have to just go for it and be aggressive on most levels. It also helps if you catch a break and other forces start fighting with each other. Sometimes you can lure them into doing it.

Strategies for this level? I know not to go for the center as this makes you a target from my aggressive play. During my defensive play I ended up losing both my small stars. I'm think maybe I should just upgrade my main star and head straight across to the main orange star?

meta 1
1. set AI to hard
2. open notepad
3. play, but keep notes on what the AI are doing every 30 seconds or minute or so.
4. after you lose, restart and follow the strategy the winning AI used.
5. as you play do the same thing, keep notes on how they respond.
6. if you lose again (you probably won't), but if you do, you'll have your second set of notes which is technically a winning strat against the AI's typical opener. If the AI follows it's strat from Notes A, then just use Notes B to beat them.

meta 2
1. watch and mirror your opponent, works best in 3 player. just copy whatever AI 1 is doing to you and do it to AI 3.
2. AI 3 will likely die and you'll be as strong as AI 1 as long as you absorb player 3 before player 1 absorbs you.

I think what ended up winning me that level was creeping around the sides to attack the player who had the center while keeping some reserves. When the third player launched a massive attack on the center and weakened them both I jumped to grab and reinforce the center before they could build up. The AIs seem to make different decisions each time, (maybe it has a few different "play styles" that it selects randomly for each color at the beginning of each game) so what works in one game might not work again in the next. You really have to find a style complimentary to what your opponent is doing. And sometimes you get extraordinarily lucky and the AI players almost totally ignore you while whittling each other down to nothing.
