"Injecting politics into fiction is inherently exclusionary and in my view regressive." - TB, 2015. this isn't about a strong moral choice in a game like that one part in mass effect 2 wrt the geth, the context for this is someone making a joke at the expense of gamergate in a webcomic, and thats coming from someone who literally interpreted prison architect as an outrage machine.

also, i for one, enjoy video games and appreciate both the fun value and the artistic value without believing one inherently overwrites the other. also also i think he's really riding on the fact that he knows lots of others and has only really remained in the public eye because he made himself controversial and not on his own merit. and when a game dev reported that they're glad TB doesn't like their game, he flipped his shit and had a hissy fit about "PR", despite it being a one-man team with no PR, him not being self-aware enough to realize game devs treat him like the biggest joke in the game journalism world, and he's just an overall unpleasant person, refusing to empathize with others, saying basic empathy is like dancing on eggshells.

also, have you ever seen the co-optional podcast? dodger and that other guy look like theyre only there because they want to avoid a gamegrumps-esque fiasco

Yeah, the comment about involving politics in games being a bad thing was pretty dumb. As Kotaku explained, involving politics in games can really add a lot to a narrative, and many of today's most famous games have overt political themes to them. But still, regardless of your opinion on his political opinions, he's still quite a good game critic. His "WTF is" videos give very infromative overviews of new games.

> when a game dev reported that they're glad TB doesn't like their game, he flipped his shit and had a hissy fit about "PR", despite it being a one-man team with no PR
That indie dev was actually being quite petty and insulting to him, calling him things like "ToiletBiscuit". Sorry, but responding to critcism with childish insults really is bad PR.

when you're only still relevant because youre "controversial" (re: "ambiguous" ties to gamergate, latching on to polaris secrets and using that as leverage with fans, hell the first time i heard about him was someone saying TB knew what happened to split up game grumps and ive never seen him stand on his own merits since then, just in relation to other personalities.) can you really blame the devs for not wanting you around?

He's not only relevant because of his sympathies for GG. He's a really prolific games reviewer and commentator, with a very hefty viewership for his content on YouTube. The GG thing just brought him more into focus to the SJW and anti-SJW crowd is all.

really? TB has been around for a long time and afaik he's a well liked game reviewer. probably if you'd leave your tumblr cave from time to time and expose yourself to sources other than your circlejerk you'd expand your horizons a bit.

there's a really interesting conversation going on in acedemic circles dealing with confirmation bias, conspiracy theory, social media, and how we all consume content. Not only do people tend to gravitate towards echo chambers, but once they do they tend to stop consuming media that isn't filtered through that echo chamber. So you get people believing a community narrative that rejects anything that doesn't support that narrative and everyone within the echo chamber end up being incapable of objective reasoning since they are not exposed to relevant facts. it's pretty interesting, and sort of explains why conspiracy theories persist in the age of information.

the views of his echo chamber are reflected in his opinions. it doesn't matter if he's consumed any TB content for himself, he'll just parrot whatever he's heard as if it's his own opinion because at this point he defers to the group to do his thinking for him.

Sjw's believe that anyone who even gives gamer gaters a platform to speak is culpable in violence against women. They also hate David Pakman because he interviews gamer gaters even though he interviews sjw's as well.
