well, technically all christian denominations are all forms of Catholicism. Catholicism is the original Christianity, or at least all Protestant Christians are Catholic-Lite

Well, there's Christianity and strict Christianity. The strict Christianity I was with had nothing to do with Catholicism.

I already said it was a Christian church but it was more like baptist I guess you could say, except there was no actual wine drinking and no instruments allowed in the church... except microphones. @previous (G) > aerodynamic

you do understand what denominations are, right? baptists don't drink wine, the protestants who do that are usually episcopalian. if it was "more like baptist" and not called a Baptist church then it was even more fundamentalist than that. a "Bible church" probably. It's just that baptists (the southern baptists at least) teach that Catholicism is not Christianity so there are a bunch of Baptists that if asked, "are you catholic," they'll say, "oh no, i'm a christian." so for you to have said you were "christian" instead of, "oh i was [protestant religion X]," then you're a southern baptist or an offshoot of that, the so called "Bible Churches" which don't refer to themselves as having a denomination. They are Christian and no one else is. especially not Catholics.
so it just sounds like you were brought up by bible banging southern baptists is all. and yeah, the southern baptists i think at least do organs in church, so, i'm thinking it was a bible church. which is protestant Christianity. i mean anything Christianity that's not Roman Catholicism is protestant Christianity.

yeah, see that's the problem with the bible churches. they teach that new ideas are dangerous and should be avoided and then they keep their followers ignorant of anything outside of a narrow set of beliefs that get reinforced over and over. by the time they're done with them they don't care to know anything other than what they already believe and despite being aware of their ignorance they'll still go around and make statements like Catholics aren't "real" Christians. it's just that the bible churches actively teach their followers that it's okay resist anything that doesn't conform already to their belief system and that allows them to reject whatever they don't like as being "evil," or "harmful" or my personal favorite, "unchristian."
