I have never used Silk Road and only acquire my drugs from local, trusted sources. Transactions are cash, in person, and never documented in any other way.
I use cash for as many purchases as possible so these drug purchases blend right in to my financial routines. Nobody is looking to bust an infrequent user that does not distribute.
